The domestically produced yellow-white injection-molded ultraviolet absorber UV531 is a light yellow crystalline powder, with a melting point of 47-49°C, density of 1.16-1.60 g/cm³ (25°C), insoluble in water but easily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and benzene; it has a light transmittance of up to 90%-95% (450-500 nm). It is widely used and can be added at 0.1%-1% to plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, and coatings, effectively absorbing ultraviolet light of 270-340 nm; it is also used in automotive paints, rubber, polypropylene fibers, and other fields. Some countries allow its use in food contact materials (such as polyethylene products with an addition of ≤0.5%).
