ABS/PC Transparent Impact Modifier (MBS)
ABS transparent toughening agent Z06T
Core-shell MBS impact modifier
Z06T is a methyl methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) core-shell impact modifier, specifically designed for polycarbonate (PC) and PC/ABS alloys, and is particularly suitable for flame-retardant systems. The product uses a multi-layer core-shell particle structure, with a butadiene rubber core and a methyl methacrylate-styrene grafted shell, providing excellent compatibility with the PC matrix. While significantly improving impact strength at room and low temperatures, it has minimal effects on heat distortion temperature, rigidity, and surface gloss, and also offers excellent chemical resistance and synergistic flame-retardant properties. It is one of the MBS grades with relatively high overall performance.

Product Features and Benefits
Our company's products are either independently manufactured or custom-produced by large domestic and international factories. The quality is stable and controllable, with excellent cost performance. The core advantages of this product are:
- Specifically optimized for PC/PC/ABS flame-retardant systems, with excellent multilayer core-shell structure and matrix compatibility, significantly improving impact resistance at room and low temperatures
- Outstanding flame-retardant synergistic performance, with interference to flame-retardant systems far lower than similar products, helping formulations stably achieve UL-94 V-0 rating
- Excellent chemical resistance, enhancing the product's resistance to solvents, oils, and cleaning agents, reducing the risk of stress cracking
- Low yellowing index, high surface gloss, clean base color, good colorability, suitable for producing light-colored, high-gloss appearance products
- Minimal impact on the rigidity and heat distortion temperature of the substrate, toughening while maintaining good mechanical properties
- Good processing flow, no need to add additional dispersants, suitable for various conventional modified processing technologies
TYPICAL APPLICATION FIELDS
- Electronics and Electrical Industry: flame-retardant connectors, switches, power supply enclosures, chargers, charging pile components, new energy battery modules, monitor housings, laptop housings, TV front frames, smart speaker housings
- Automotive Industry: PC/ABS automotive interior parts and other components with high chemical resistance requirements
- Industrial and Daily Consumer Products: industrial parts exposed to oil/cleaning agents, cosmetic packaging, stationery, etc.
- General Engineering Plastic Modification: non-flame-retardant ordinary PC/PC/ABS structural parts, fiber-reinforced engineering plastics toughening modification
Recommended additions
- PC pure resin toughening: 3% - 5%
- PC/ABS alloy: 3% - 5%
- Flame-retardant PC/ABS: 4% - 6%
- High impact/low temperature requirements: 5% - 8%
- Glass fiber reinforced system: 4% - 6%
It is recommended to start testing adjustments from 5%, and generally it is not recommended to exceed 10% addition.
Processing Technology Reference
High-speed mixing with the base material granules for 5-8 minutes is sufficient, no additional dispersant is needed. It is recommended to use side feeding or gravimetric feeding to ensure accuracy:
- PC system extrusion temperature: feeding section 200-220°C, melting section 250-270°C, homogenizing section 240-260°C, die 240-250°C
- PC/ABS system extrusion temperature: feeding section 200-220°C, melting section 230-250°C, homogenizing section 230-240°C, die 240-250°C
- Screw speed: 200-300 rpm, injection molding temperature 240-280°C, mold temperature 80-100°C
- PC requires drying at 120°C for 4-5 hours, ABS requires drying at 80°C for 4-5 hours, moisture content should be controlled below 0.02%.
Precautions for Use
- The product contains butadiene carbon-carbon double bonds and is not suitable for weather-resistant products exposed to long-term outdoor UV radiation.
- The processing temperature should not exceed 300°C, as prolonged high temperatures can cause performance degradation.
- After opening, it should be used as soon as possible; remaining product should be sealed and kept moisture-proof, with storage humidity below 70%.
- When using sulfonate-based flame retardant systems, it is recommended to slightly adjust the addition amount.
